Después de varias horas de investigación y google, he encontrado finalmente la información para la correcta instalación del emblema de la designación de modelo (318i, 320i, 318ti, 325i, M3, etc) en la tapa del baúl de los E36.
Removing and installing/replacing model designation (emblem) at rear (sedan, coupé, convertible, M3)
Sedan, Coupé, Convertible:
The model sign is glued and cannot be reused after removal. The model sign must be installed at room temperature. Coat nylon string or thread with tenside (e.g. dish detergent), cut through adhesive layer and remove with
washing benzene. At paint baking temperatures exceeding 80 °C, the model designation must be removed
Apply adhesive tape up to upper edge "A" and mark dimensions according to the table.

Sedan 316 i - 328 i:
A = 20, B = 33, C = 16
Sedan 318 tds, 325 td, tds:
A = 20, B = 33, D = 20
Coupé 316 i - 328 i:
A = 30, B = 33, C = 16
Convertible 318 i - 328 i:
A = 40, B = 33, C = 16
M3 (Sedan, Coupé, Convertible):
Apply adhesive tape up to upper edge "A" and mark dimensions
as per table.
